In April, Dr. Steven Glickel and Dr. Alton Barron of OrthoManhattan attended the annual meeting of the Littler Eaton Glickel Society in New York City. This year’s event was particularly meaningful, marking the Inaugural Bradford and Richard Eaton Memorial Lecture, held on April 25, 2025.
The honored speaker was Dr. Mark E. Baratz, Clinical Professor and Vice Chair at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he also directs the Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship. Dr. Baratz delivered a thought-provoking lecture titled: “The Stiff Finger: Culprits, Pliancy, Redundancy and a Percutaneous Approach.”
The following day, the society held its 37th Scientific Session on April 26, 2025, here at OrthoManhattan, showcasing the latest innovations and research in upper extremity surgery.
On Friday evening, members of the Society gathered for a formal dinner at the elegant Cosmopolitan Club, where they reconnected with colleagues and friends. A group photo was taken of the members who attended the lecture, capturing the enduring legacy of the Society.
In 2020, Dr. Glickel and Dr. John G. Seiler published The Littler Legacy, a richly detailed tribute to his mentor, Dr. Julian E. Littler. The book chronicles the foundations of modern hand surgery and celebrates the lineage that continues through the Society’s mission and members.
The Littler Eaton Glickel Society continues to be a vibrant and influential community of thought leaders in hand and upper extremity surgery, honoring the contributions of Drs. Littler, Eaton, and Glickel through scholarship, collaboration, and mentorship. We are proud to see our own Drs. Glickel and Barron take part in this enduring tradition.
