Published on December 2, 2020 by

OrthoManhattan is a multi-specialty orthopedic surgery practice that brings together an outstanding group of experienced doctors and staff to comprehensively treat all of your musculoskeletal problems. As a practice manager for Dr. Adam Cohen and Dr. Roy Davidovitch and a general manager for all six doctors, Margo Cohen plays a huge role in making sure OrthoManhattan runs smoothly from day-to-day.

With 18 years of experience in orthopedic care, Margo brings an abundance of knowledge and support to surgical patients when walking them through the insurance process. From start to finish, she is there to ensure that our patients understand every step of the process and the financial exposures of their coverage prior to committing to surgery. Her priority is to give each patient all of the information they need to help make the best decision for them.

Learn more about Margo Cohen and her role at OrthoManhattan:

What do you do at OrthoManhattan?

Mainly, I’m the practice manager for Dr. Adam Cohen and Dr. Roy Davidovitch. I talk surgical patients through the insurance process and discuss their financial exposures with them if they are to move forward with surgery. In addition, I’m the general manager for all six doctors, so I help with anything related to the overall structure of the company, from finances and billing to helping with Human Resources to implementing COVID-19 procedures.

What drew you to OrthoManhattan?

I’ve been working in orthopedics for 18 years, and I knew multiple of the doctors back when we worked at Mount Sinai West, so I’ve known all of the doctors on a personal level for a very long time. I have so much respect for all of them and when they asked me to come and help them in their private practice, it wasn’t a question. They’re all phenomenal doctors who care about their patients deeply. My heart and soul is in this group because it’s so rare to have such world-renowned surgeons all together in one practice making a difference.

What would you like every patient to know about OrthoManhattan?

What I want patients to know about the group is that each of them really care about their patients care plan and outcome.  I’m really proud of the transparency we have with people. Our job is to give people all of the information they need to make the best decision for them.

I never thought I would get into a job with insurance companies because it’s a very tedious, hard job. I do this because I realize that patients pay for their healthcare coverage.  They should be able to use it when they need to and the insurance company should cover them. If there’s nobody there to have that conversation with a patient and their insurance company, that’s how things fall through the cracks. We’re trying to take all of our knowledge and use it to help minimize financial exposure and build something that patients can trust.

What is your favorite part of your workday?

My favorite part of my workday is seeing patients post-operatively – knowing that they’re doing better and feeling better. Also, when a patient tells me they had a good experience and feel like they made the right decision, that’s very rewarding.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

I love to draw. I also like Peloton and try to work out whenever I have the time. I have 3 little kids at home, so it’s tough sometimes!  Forever trying to find a balance.

What is your favorite thing about being in New York?

I grew up in Canada and moved to New York 18 years ago. I just really love the pace and the diversity of people here. I love the energy of New York.
